Bright Lite believes renewable energy should be sited in ways that bring down the cost of reliable electricity to the ratepayer.

To get there, part of Bright Lite’s long term research plan is to develop search algorithms that target sites and utilities facing costly system upgrades in order to maintain reliability standards. By deploying a combination of renewables, storage, fuels cells, and demand side management on a given feeder line or load bus via PPA, Bright Lite will allow the host utility to save ratepayer dollars by avoiding necessary system upgrades.

This non-wires approach to system reliability has tremendous opportunity for rural utilities at-risk of having to upgrade long-distance sub-transmission circuits to serve load growth.

Bright Lite is interested in discussing this area of R&D with utilities, engineering companies, and possibly other developers.
